Some things I'm currently working with:

• S5: A Simple Standards-Based Slide Show System - quite nice if you'd be better off making your slides out of HTML. Which I am, using:
• perltidy and its integration with pod2html. Working with source code in PowerPoint is a recipe for insanity.
• Perl Best Practices by Damian Conway and Mark-Jason Dominus' Red Flags talks
