LOTR:ROTKRecently saw Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King. It was good, but not as good as The Two Towers was.Good: Most of the actors do a top-notch job, especially the men behind Theoden, Aragorn and Sam. The battle scenes are impressively choreographed and rendered. The Army of the Dead wins for 'coolest part of the book I had forgotten about'. Bad: The pacing drags in many places, most notably anytime people need to exchange a meaningful look. At times Jackson even slows down the film, making some scenes more painfully drawn-out. I also would have liked more about Faramir post-bonfire and more of a real reaction from Frodo to finding Gandalf alive than slow-motion laughter. Maybe in the extended version. 7.5 out of 10. |
