More damned rain

Only a few days after Isabel, this was really not helpful:

Rainfall Causes Flooding, Hazardous Conditions Around Area (washingtonpost.com)

The area has received between 2-4 inches overnight, with up to five inches expected in some areas. The rain has resulted in standing water on many area roads and multiple road closures in the District, Maryland and Virginia.

Authorities in Loudoun County said they received more than 90 calls for help this morning because of flooding.

Luckily we live in a fairly high spot; even so, our ground is pretty saturated at this point, making flooding a real possibility last night. (It didn't happen this time.) At least the next few days are supposed to be clear & sunny...     1 comment(s)  

I was at home in Brooklyn that week and boy.. were we whining about the rain. (Yeah, sure, everyone else was having their houses blown down, and us New Yoikers are whining about rain..) But then I haul my butt over here to England on vacation and.. boy, rain 24/7.
