permlink fall 2002 TV; Bummed about Bickford

Via Laurel's TV Picks, I find her aggregation of the fall TV season changes to be very informative.

Mighty bummed am I that Education of Max Bickford is kaput. Ditto The Tick. Farewell also to Family Law, one of those shows we ended up watching a lot but that I never really was nuts about; interesting cases, so-so characters.

Somehow I stopped watching Ally McBeal sometime in 2001 and never really missed it enough to go back, so hey, whatever, bye bye.

Interesting: Both Supreme Court shows tanked. Just Shoot Me has been demoted; lord knows why it wasn't cancelled altogether. And hey, The Weakest Link is gone. I did not expect that. I wonder how many "entertainment" reporters will make the obvious joke. Probably all of them.

NYPD Blue and Judging Amy are still opposite each other. Bah. Blue wins that matchup...

I thought Futurama was going away, but apparently it's not. Cool.

So my list of Absolutely-Must-TiVo-AND-Watch-ASAP shows is down to Six Feet Under, Good Eats, NYPD Blue, and The West Wing. That's not so bad.

Feel free to add your own observations on the new schedule. And thanks, Laurel! permlink     3 comment(s)
The news is not necessarily all good about Futurama -- the network has a backlog of a dozen or so episodes that haven't aired (thanks to the show's abysmal time slot and consequent start-late-end-early abbreviated season), so it's likely that they'll spend next December to March burning off those shows, and that will be it (unless the ratings suddenly get a whole lot better).

Scott and I also have West Wing and Good Eats on our Tivo list. Our top "must record" is Buffy. Other stuff (some his, some ours, nothing is just mine) includes CSI, Survivor, Band of Brothers, Cowboy Bebop, Sports Night, Family Guy, Futurama, Alias, Battlebots, Freakazoid, Simpsons, Animaniacs and Manchild. All the cartoons are his, as is Band of Brothers and Battlebots, but the rest we both like. I suspect we'll have to seriously give Six Feet Under a try since we hear so much good stuff about it.
