Nice job Steve- I like it. Very appropriate, unlike some of the manipulative aspects of the pregame tribute at the Superbowl.

I was shaken up by the loss of Columbia and her crew, more than I expected to be. Don't know if it tapped into my feelings with Challenger 7 or my excitement with Columbia's first mission.

permlink Dear U.S. Democratic Party...

Dear U.S. Democratic Party:

John Kerry?

Are you serious?

Excluding Joe 'No-Chance' Lieberman and of course Mr. Bush, he's my least favorite guy running. I don't know what people like so much about him, and I don't see him motivating many people or convincing anyone to cross party lines for him like Dean (or Clark). So...

Kerry? Really? permlink     2 comment(s)
Sing it, bro!

I've been pondering this lately, too, and I don't get it either. What's really baffling me is why so many voters and pundits seem to think he's more "electable" than Dean or Edwards (putting aside the insipidity of the whole "electability" issue). I think it will be easy for Bush to wipe the floor with Kerry. Molly Ivins was right a couple of weeks ago, when she described him as a tall Dukakis with no Elvis.

Clearly, I do not have my fingers on the pulse of the American electorate.

This is indeed a disappointing turn of events. Kerry is decent, competent and deservedly decorated and if he is nominated I will energetically support him to kick out the cabal at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. But I greatly admire Dean's courageous stances against both the ill-advised unilateral war and Alan Greenspan's continued tenure and I will gladly cast a vote for him in California's primary. The best hope now, perhaps, in light of Dean's seemingly long odds, would be to see Edwards and Clark sharing a ticket somehow. However, Dean is a fighter, and I'm hoping for a surprise surge from the good doctor. Dean Clark is still my dream ticket.

permlink Easter Island Bobblehead

It's not often you find kitsch that is a crime not just against Art but against ancient spirits as well:

Easter Island Bobblehead [Art & Artifact]
Ponder weighty questions as you gaze at this merry miniature, set on a spring to bounce and bobble when you give it a tap.
