permlink John Leonard on Bond

John Leonard on Bond movies (I haven't seen the current one):
We don't need the last half hour of [Die Another Day]
(which should have ended with the rising tide)

but before you say that we don't need any Bond
much less 20 of them in 40 years
I ask you to look at the bigger picture

The series itself encapsulates our mortal passage
like a tree ring
  an ice cap
    an acid layer
      a clam-bed fossil
  or a peat bog.
He's the main reason I TiVo "CBS Sunday Morning". permlink

permlink Changes

Changes: The only 24/7 Dunkin' Donuts I know of in the vicinity (the one on Wilson Blvd) is closing on Saturday. Sigh.

What the details are of their arrangement I do not know, but CDNow seems to be being swallowed up by Amazon. Not surprising, I guess; I haven't even visited CDNow in about a year.

Been busy. So much stuff to post I don't even know where to begin, so I shan't for now. Maybe next week. permlink     1 comment(s)
Following the law of conservation, a new Dunkin' Donuts is starting up in our neighborhood. Unfortunately, it is buying out the only Arby's I know of (I love Arby's). It's too bad- there are plenty of Dunkin' Donuts around.

I wonder where a new Arby's will spring up to keep the law intact...
