Amazon: free shipping at $25Amazon's shipping news: Half off again [CNET]Amazon.com is dropping its free shipping threshold to $25, in a "long-term test," the company said Monday. ... Not all products are included, and the order will add three to five days to shipping times.I actually think this might backfire and reduce their sales, as I have anecdotal evidence of people adding 'just one more thing' (or two) to reach the free-shipping threshold of $50. Without that incentive, people may well just place smaller orders than before. (And I don't think the total number of orders will rise enough to compensate.) Still, this will at least make current customers happier (and probably more loyal, which is worth something in itself). 2 comment(s) Perhaps they are trying to woo some new customers for the holiday season? I imagine that if it has the effect you predict, they'll dump the program pretty quickly.Add a comment... |
