10.1.5 kernel panic fixAha! The kernel crashes I was having were not from errors on the hard drive but from a conflict between Mac OS X 10.1.5 and DoubleCommand (the software that wouldn't be necessary if Apple put two command keys on their PowerBooks... grr...).The newest version (1.3b2 or later) fixes the problem. (To start up without activating the old DoubleCommand and causing a crash, hold down the Shift key during boot.) The mystery is, why did my computer successfully start up a couple of days ago (when I still had the old one)? Weird. |
