No time to post... I'm heading out of town with a car full of stuff on the way to my new home, Arlington, Virginia. This may help explain the lack of recent postings.
But there's one thing I just have to post before I go -- a first for this site, and almost certainly the first in a series:
Now, This: "Just Because" (solo piano) (3.2MB, MP3), the first piece of music I ever wrote, many years ago in a high school music theory class (which would make it... 1988, I guess). It's only evolved a tiny bit over the years, so I must be happy with it. This is a recent recording and the closest I've come to a canonical version.
When I have time, proper liner notes (and index pages for the new "media" site subdirectory) will be forthcoming, but for now there's just the file. Download it for yourself for free! I retain copyright, though I'm not sure how much that means any more.
Some notes of mine from an old description of it: "[My favorite part] comes about two-thirds of the way through, where the right hand is doing all the work in a single line of notes, some of which are melody and some of which are arpeggiation of the underlying (implied) chords. Which notes are which? I don't know, and I don't care."
If you like it, do let me know. If not, oh well; it was free, so you're not out anything but a few minutes.
Later, everybody!
